fabio_vr6 0
i have a noise from the pump sometimes, just wondering how long it will last and is it suppost to be silent ? will the car just die one day or will it keep like this for ages ? fabio
mightyvr6 0
You may hav a problem there but my pump has been audible (not noisy) for ages so yours could have some life left in it. Try changing the fuel filter and see if it quietens down.
apd 0
yes it will just die on you one day, either that or 167 relay will be shagged!
Petesvw 0
Yeah, my 167 relay went a bit ago, you know about it when it does tho, started with what sounded like a misfire, then just wouldn't run at all!
fabio_vr6 0
its like a buzz noise when the car is idleing cant hear it in the car only if your standing at the back of it outside
stockers 1
you should be able to hear the pump buzzing if you p[ut your head in the boot, if its noisier than that it may be working to hard cos of a slight blockage or is a little worn
28v6r 0
Usually the pump "Hisses" when its working fine, not loud mind, but a light hiss, if its now buzzing, then yes, the pump is on its way out. Hopefully its not located in the tank but outside or in front of the subframe, otherwise make sure that when you decide to replace it that the tank is near empty!! The last three times I've done a tank pump I've been caught out with the tank nearly full or is full!!!!!!!!!! Arrrrgghhhh!!!!!!! ~ %-
fabio_vr6 0
yer its like a high pitched buzz noise you cant hear it inside the car tho! please say its normal as if i have to spend another penny on this crap heap im going to go insane!
apd 0
if it aint broke dont fix it,but try a relay first/filter.i paid 30quid for a sec hand one for my old vr[pump].must be off a vr though or you will get lean issues.
drewvr6 0
i wouldnt worry about it mate my the pump on mine has a loud buzzing when standing at the back or side for the last 4 years lol ,i was worried about it way back asked a few specialists who confirmed some older pumps are noisy ,checked my fuel pressure and it was spot on,try to forget it, if it is faulty it soon let you know ,if your cars running ok best to leave it alone. stockers 1
if you get someone to turn the ignition on (but not the engine) you will be able to hear the pump engage(a quiet buzz), which will mean the pump is working ok and obviousely the noise will remain otherwise it would stop pumping fuel.i would leave it alone unless you get running problems like a fuel starvation or something
