Whiney noise from n/s wheel

Hey everyone,

Was wondering if you could help me... was coming around a roundabout last night and could hearing a starnge sort of whirring whiny noise coming from the wheel. Came of onto a straight and it went away, seems to only be when i am turning.....

Could it be a wheel bearing? or the dreaded bushes

wheel bearing poss. try looking at the outer driveshaft boot to see if its split. it could be grit getting into the universal joint and knackering that out.

How do you figure?? CV joints **Click** not whine. Whine is more like a bearing, although it would be more of a drone as opposed a whine, seeing as its a press type bearing and not taper row... To Test a CV joint is to put the car into a figure 8 and listen if it clicks then you know its a CV joint, if however there is no clickin' then I'd say is more liable to be a bearing....

Yep I agree, cv joints click, not whine. A cv joint will click at very slow speed, so easy to test. Bearings are a common problem on these cars, cv joints rarely go wrong.

Cool! Thanks guys, yea a "drone" is defo a better word to describe it! I had a feeling it was a bearing but was unsure. Will get it done after xmas, thanks for your help.
