the matrix 0
Driving home tonight i noticed that the water temp gauge reaching 100 an the fans going crazy trying to cool it down. I pulled over and let things cool down for a while, and managed to limp home with the heaters on full blast to try and help to disburse some of the heat-evan with this, the temp still crept up again!Ive recently had my alternator belt replaced and its still fine now, but cant think whats causing it. Could it be the water pump has died or something else,hhmm... !sad Any thoughts or experiences of the same, please help!
mightyvr6 0
Look at the narrow hose which feeds the expansion tank to see if water is flowing (this is the feed from the pump)'. If it isnt trickling through, the pump isn' working.Another thing to check is the bottom and top rad hoses. If one is cool when the engine is warm the thermostat might be jammed, preventing water from flowing through the radiator.
the matrix 0
Thanks mighty vr6! I did both checks, and found that the bottom radiator hose is is staying cold. Ordered a replacement thermostat, only
jayvwvr6 0
dont forget new rubber o rings! if its the original housing when you take it apart inspect were the housing meets the side of the engine block as this is a prone place the housing breaks down, there also a funny square shape rubber seal that will prob need replacing to.
