maf sensor coming loose and coming off completely

Recommended Posts

Was out in the countryside today and noticed the car was struggling and smelt a burning rubber smell. Pulled over and looked int he engine couldn't see anything, so got in the car and tried to dstart it and it just stalled, opened the bonnet again and noticed this was not attached

It looks like the culprit is this, it's been pushing it off

to the point it's damged it and taken the rubber off it

Any suggestions to stop the MAF sensor coming off would be appreciated

with the bracket that holds the BMC, you really need to ensure that the bend isnt on any of the holes (as the metal is weaker at this point) I had enough metal to make 2 brackets, unfortunatly, I've now used it all as I made the same mistake as you when I first fitted my BMC.

on mine, it doesnt have the rubber boot, but there is a metal paperclip like device that goes round the clip and has two prongs at either side, and when it goes over the maf it clips it into position, might be worth getting hold of a new plug and swapping the clips?
