stockers 1
hi all, found a new vr (97 highline) with 90k on the clock.there is 'cream on the oil cap',some white residue on underside of bonnet near the windscreen.how can i tell if the head gasket is knackered or if a bit of moisture has got into the oil another way. possibly from radiator blockage.the car has been sat outside and not driven for a few weeks.cheers adam

VR6Pete 1,455
I agree, without proper CO2 and compression checks, it's not work the risk....
stockers 1
cheers guys, i didn't say that it was coming from an established garage that only deals in merc, bmw and golf, i voiced my concern at the problem and they are gonna check the head gasket and give me 3 months parts and labour warranty, does that sound a better deal?drove it today and it runs real smooth, no dead spots or strange noises. stockers 1
maybe, would i have got a 3 month warrenty on yours? have you got the mulberry one on ebay in Dunstable?
ThermalP4 1
I've tried emailing the guy but had no reply so far. I doubt he'll accept anything lower than 5k. Cant see my mate paying out that much really. He was gonna have mine but the mulberry flavour is the one he's after. I like the mulberry one too but never found one.3 month warranty is not a lot though Adam. If its showing signs of quite serious problems would you want to take the chance?Hope all goes well anyway. But do get the H/G checked before you drive away.

Nerih 0
i dont see how you can charge over 5k for a vr6 even if its a highline, unless its modded or very low mileage.
