matth76 1
HiDoes anyone know how long on average the standard catalytic converter lasts on a Golf VR6? My car is a 1997 P reg. Are we talking 10 years, or 15-20 years? Has anyone on here had theirs replaced?Cheers.Matt

matth76 1
Thanks for your replies. Was really asking because I am getting a Milltek high flow cat fitted in a few days as well as a cat back twin jet Milltek system. I assume the high flow cat section will also be stainless steel but going to ask Stealth tomorrow to check. Just wondered how long a standard one lasts as Milltek told me their high flow cat lasts just as long (unless the car has been heavily modified). Has anyone on here had a Milltek high flow cat or similar fitted? What difference did it make to your car? I haven't gone down the cheaper decat route because of insurance hassle and cost of refitting the standard one each time come mot. My insurance has only gone up
VR6Pete 1,455
Will it pass the MOT with a high flow cat ?
antera309 3
I'm told that the VR6's emissions are OK for an MOT even with the cat removed. However, the MOT testers put the car on a lift and visually check that a cat is present and in reasonable condition ("Part of the exhaust system must not be missing or excessively deteriorated")http://www.motester.co.uk/cog.htmlSo, as long as the aftermarket cat is visually identifiable as a cat, and fitted properly, the car should go through an MOT fine. The price of that Milltek hi-flow cat is scary though. What BHP/torque increases do they claim it gives?

TVR6 0
Mine's a 97 with 80k and no sign of deterioration. The original zorst was in excellent conidition too and would have lasted many a good long if I hadn't replaced it with the stainless item Nerih (apologies to everyone else for deviating) have you sorted your charger yet? I remember the noise was becoming an issue? Whats sort of noise are we talking about anyway?
