Craig 0
Last Friday I had my Powerflow cat-back system fitted at my local Top Gear. It looked and sounded brilliant. I had fun driving around that evening, and again the following day.On Sunday evening I went out in the car. As I pulled away the exhaust sounded really "Boomy," which it had not done before. I headed for my local Tesco petrol station forecourt for a look underneath. Sure enough, the exhaust was blowing from somewhere near the cat.The following day I took the car into Top Gear. With the car on the ramp and the engine running it was immediately obvious that the hole was in the cat itself. But this is the odd part. It was blowing from the end of what looked like a spigot, towards the rear of the cat, near the top side. A spigot that looked as though there should be something connected to it.Having previously looked underneath when the car was on the ramps, I noted that there was a sensor connected at the front of the cat, but did not see anything connected to this other spigot.Anyway, the only thing I could think of is that there must have been something originally plugging that hole, which had since somehow become dislodged. They asked me what to do and, as I needed to use the car and it sounded bloody awful, I told them to weld the end shut. That stopped it blowing alright!Does anyone know why that spigot is there and what (if anything) should have been connected to it?The reason it still bugs me is that I am sure my exhaust still sounds a lot more "Boomy" than it did when it was first fitted, and the booming seems to come from directly underneath when I am sitting in the car.Any thoughts?
