Paul Allen 0
Hi I have looked at at a few threads on here from people wanting to do this. My VR is going into the bodyshop the week after next to have some rust sorted out, i was thinking of taking the arches off and getting them to smooth whats left under the plastic arch. Is this an easy job? and is it really worth the hassle. Is there anyone that has done this that could give me some idea on how to go about this?
VRmonster 1
once the arches are off, if the paint is ok and not rusted then that is all you need to do to the arches. the black ones you have are just like covers.the side trim will need to be changed for de arched stuff though as it has a little recess where the arch used to be. but thats not too much hassle.im doing my cabrio in about 10 mins. stockers 1
have you worked out how to get them off, ive looked and they seem to be rivetted on rather than screws, as i want to do mine aswell.
stu h 0
you have to drill the rivets out and as VR monster said, you need to get the CL rubbing stiprs. I just sold a set.
richievr 1
do it do it. . . . looks much better afterwards . . . .will probably need paint though - mine did as the arches left lines in the paint where they rub against it for years . . . .

Paul Allen 0
Thanks for your replys.I will be preping the car myself so can i clear something up will i have to drill the rivets out behind the plastic arches or will i just have to tidy up the paint behind the arches. I have'nt looked behind the arches yet so hopefully i will not get any nasty surprises.
