Anyone fitted a de-cat pipe ???

Recommended Posts

I have one fitted to mine - cant say I noticed an amazing difference but it felt a bit more responsive and sounded better & on the rollers I got 214bhp from a de-cat, exhaust, filter & more than likely a chip of some sort but I havent fitted one or looked at the ECU yet. You'll need to put your cat back on for MOT time unless you have a friendly MOT tester ;)

One of the reasons i've asked this is because on my last vr6 i had a supersprint cat back exhaust but without the centre box and it seemed to lose torque on the bottom end but freed up the revs at the top end. And thats what i dont want to lose the torque it was only slight but i did notice it.

You will lose torque if you reduce back pressure in normally aspirated applications. I have a supersprint cat bypass on mine and it made a profound difference in N/A and with the charger. Much keener and smoother. I have retained the factory Lientz Corrado system because it's f'in brilliant basically. Lasts 10 years easily and flows very well....and more importantly, it's quiet.

With chargers you can get away with a relatively restrictive system as unlike turbos, excessive back pressure doesn't stall the turbine.
