J5KE F 0
Helpful advise required:Has anyone else with a schrick manifold got a copy of a R&R run?I know its fueling is off and hopefully theyre getting it sorted for E38 but that sort of drop cant be all due to running lean? But even without the s/c and other mods on the old engine i had a similar power drop around this mark. Eat this 2
60 lb ft is a big drop ignore the bhp graph torque is what the engine is actually doing mine had a sudden drop but only about 20-25 lb ft jake the worst thing about your graph is what it does over 4500 rpm its all over the place mate ps y does your engine rev over 7k they should have 6500 limiter
VR6Pete 1,455
jeepers, that is a fair drop!Actually, 2.8's have the limter at 6,500 and 2.9's have a 6.7... its not difficult to raise the limiter slightly if you have a DASTEK or the like.
mark@vagworx 0
Jesus, that's one sick puppy!!I'd say from the look of that graph and the way it pitches and dives all the way to the redline is down to fuelling. Looks like the knock sensors are kicking in and stopping the engine from revving due to the lean mixture. When my charger first went on, i ran it with the schrick, and my graph looked nothing like that. Basically you see a slight drop from a schrick on a n/a car after 4000rpm, but on a charger vr, the charger takes over at 4000rpm thus no obvious power/torque drop.Basically, your bhp graph should be a straight diagonal line climbing all through the rev range until you hit the limiter, with peak power being obtained at the redline. Torque should be fairly similar, except not as high.Fuellings the key here, not the schrick. Check you haven't got any boost or vacuum leaks aswell. If i were you i wouldn't be gunning that around to much until it's sorted.
anorak 0
Agree with Minty, looks like fuelling is way off (as you said J5KE x ).I had a similar graph (although not with such a severe drop at 4000rpm - are you sure the Schrick is switching properly?) when my car was running with a 12psi pulley. It was running dangerously lean over 5k and 'pinking' between 4 and 5.Do you notice this on yours? It was so far off the only solution was to fit an 8.5psi pulley and have it completely remapped on the RR. It puts out almost the same power and slightly more torque now and runs much more smoothly (and safely - melting pistons is never fun).Might be worth coming down slightly from the 10psi you're running, sometimes less is more. Don't know anything about Regal but I'd say get yourself along to Stealth Racing in Southam. They're not too far from you and if anyone can set up a 'charged VR they can! simey 0
Looking at the graphs I'd agree with minty and anorak that its fueling. Have you changed the injectors recently, standard ones will be ok upto 270 bhp any more and bigger injectors are needed to deal with the top end. What chip are you using for the sc?If in doubt book it in to Stealth and Vince will work some majic
anorak 0
Just had another close look at your graph Jake. There's no way a VR should only be making the same torque at 4500rpm as it does at 2500, 'charged or not!And your peak dyno power (which I assume is measured wheel power) of just over 170hp doesn't bear out 262hp at the flywheel. That's a 90hp transmission loss - all the VR graphs I've seen have a 40-60hp loss. If your drivetrain was using up 90hp it would melt after ten minutes or so!Unless your brakes are sticking on! !dodge
