Websnowbo 0
How is this achieved? Is it purely pistons or is there rods and crank involved too?If it is pistons, what are available and where from and how much?!
simey 0
3 litre will require boring & pistons, as fair as I know you can still use the original con rods. If your going down this route I'd recommend putting a new set in.JE Pistons are a good place to start.

Websnowbo 0
http://www.nolimitmotorsport.com/prod/JE186236What bore size is supposed to give 3.0?
VRmonster 1
83mm will give you a pretend 3.0l (with JE its actually 2.95, but no-one will care) ive just done it and i got my pistons from the states, much cheaper.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JE-PISTONS-VR6-2-8L-92-99-GOLF-GTI-JETTA-GLX-10-0-1_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33623QQitemZ7989598879QQtcZphotogo here but mail them and ask if they can get you some 83mm 3.0l ones in. should have them within a week of ordering.you can use your own rods of they are in good cond. not bent etc... and id recomend replacing head studs with ARP stuff at least, id go the lot though, head, rod, crank. just to be safe.id also be carefull where you take the block to be rebored as there are only a few places in the country capable of doing it properly as the block has to be set up on the rack at 7.5 degrees from vertical. sijo 0
what sort of power will this 3.0 put out if you run a 2.9 setup ?
VRmonster 1
you probably wont see much hp gain from the 3.0l alone, but some cams and a bigger intake and exhaust would help. probably see 200bhp with the right bit of tuning though. then more for any other mods you have.whereabouts are you. i know highflowheads can do it, and grant motorsport. i used a local company to me in the north east who have done 3 or 4 before. MarkGolf 6
I used a local company to do my conversion..I just call it a 2.9 overbore, but 3.0 does sound better!! lol Mine was originally a 2.9 and I was told not to expect much difference at all, but thought I may aswell do it while the block was bare.. I sort of regret it and wish I blew the cash on the head and peloquin box! O well!!
VRmonster 1
well to do my 3.0l alone it has only cost me about
