vr6madforit 0
Can anyone help with any answers? Coming back from a drive a small bit of steam was coming out of the left side of the bonnet. Opened her up and the coolent was below the min level and steam was coming out of the near to where the pipe from the coolant bottle goes into the back of the engine. Filled her up with coolant and now am hearing a ticking sort of sound around the back of the engine and when i rev the exhaust sounds all gurgly like a rally car exhaust. The oil temp is fine being around 86-90C. Does this sound drastic, like a head gasket gone or minor problemAm going to check tomoz if there is a leak and if the coolant level has gone down. I checked the level a few weeks ago and it was fine. I will get it checked out soon but just wanna know if any one has any ideas.

Nerih 0
can you open the cap where you put you're oil in and check for white cream in it, if you're exhaust sound is being changed by coolant, it may be becuase its leaking into your cylinders becuase the gasket's failed. vr6madforit 0
will check that! No! No creamy substance or residue when i take the oil cap off! Checked coolant level this morning and it has leaked out and fallen directly below the car again just below the min level line like before, it doesnt seem to fall lower than this. There is also a whirring sound coming from this area see pics.
vr6madforit 0
whirring from this plug type thing where my finger is pointing.
Nerih 0
whiring sound is fine when ignition is on or car engine is fine, its the aux water pump which is directly under the 3 wed ht wires (under the black panel) its a large metal cylinder connected to the water system.Plese try and take come photo's side on so we can see if its coming from the aux water pump, the gaskets sometimes fail. Please also check that you're water pump pully (on the drivers side) which is connected to rubber belt is rotating in a striaght line and isnt wobbling (infact check all the pulleys arent wobbling, i.e a/c, alternator power steering, water pump etc).try to get a side on picture of the drivers side portion of the engine in good daylight. Bloody nitemare when things go wrong!! Thanks for all your help guys, much appreciated.
Nerih 0
can you post a pic of your engine bay i wanna see your supercharger. aquamist only opens up on full throttle and cools the mixture in order to stop preignition/detonation, so how does it add bhp (apart from you can run higher boost with same compression) this is my understanding. mightyvr6 0
Yes that was my understanding too but it also means that the car ahould always make around 284 hp even in v warm conditions. Without water injection power will decrease on hot days when charge temp increases more than normal.
