mightyvr6 0
Give the crank position sensor a good clean. It's on the right hand side of the block next to the oil cooler.

mightyvr6 0
Do you get any click from the ecu relay?
volkswag0nvr6 0
yes when i turn the ignition on there is a click from the ecu relay.. does that mean the ecu is ok?if i was to take just the ecu down to vw would they be able to check it?
mightyvr6 0
Mine did that and the ecu was knackered. What number is the relay?
volkswag0nvr6 0
just had a closer listen, when i turn the ingnition on there is a clicking noise. but i don't think it is coming from a relay. but since then i have checked for power at the eco plug that goes to the coilpack and i have power there. aslo checked for power at the cam sender and that is fine.so i think it is safe to say that it is not the ecu.. i hope. i have been the crank sensor but if that was gone would it cause me not to have a spark?thanks

volkswag0nvr6 0
yeah got fuel but no spark..
mightyvr6 0
I'm pretty sure that if the crank sensor is dead you don't get spark or fuel.
volkswag0nvr6 0
having trouble finding the crank sensor, would it be near the coil pack somewhere?
mightyvr6 0
it's on the front of the block on the right hand side of the oil cooler.
volkswag0nvr6 0
ok think i have found it does it have 3 plugs going to it?
mightyvr6 0
No, that's the thermostat housing. Go lower down. It's a single cable going into the block held in place with a single allen key bolt.

Bampson 0
is thaat near newmarket ??
volkswag0nvr6 0
yes mate near newmarket.tryed another crank sensor today and still nothing. i know i said i had fuel but i don't, before i didn't take the fuel lines completey off and fuel p***** out, just took them fully off today and i am not getting any fuel. got power at the fuel pump but it is not running.so if i had no spark and no fuel it would suggest that the ecu could be knackered...
