Head gasket

Hi all, I am going to be getting the head gasket done on my Corrado VR6 and I am going to be buying the parts myself and the garage will be doing the labour.  

 

I was going to buy most parts from my local VW dealer but was wondering if you would recommend anyone else.  I will be getting the chain and tensioners done at the same time.

Hi mate.

 

Id recommend clutch as your gearbox will be off, clutch slave cylinder always good to replace if original, oil cooler and crack pipe and thermostat house if not been replaced too.

 

Oil / filter change with Syntha Silver 10/40.

 

Water pump - make sure you get the version with metal fins.

Mate get the Chains & Guides from TPS. 

Other parts can br bought from here. 

There prices are fab and all German OE Parts cross referenced.

I use http://vwspares.co.uk/ for quite a few bits and bobs of course they are pattern parts but I've never had an issue

 

ABS sensors, heat exchange, water pumps, slave cylinders etc...

Ecs tuning is really good too, but you gotta watch it some times they price gouge.
