Vince12v 20
Evening chapsRecently changed my coil pack, mass air flow sensor, plugs, and still have a misfire but now it's worse, no it's bogging down losin 2 pots, I'm thinkin it may be the cam sensor or the crank sensor?Any ideas? Bealieboy 1,625
I'm sure crank sensor failure will make the engine cut out completely, not affect individual cylinders. Have you checked all leads are seated correctly on the coil and plugs. Did you replace the coil etc due to the misfire? Edited August 31, 2014 by Bealieboy MJ Vr6
Vince12v 20
Yea the old one was covered in cracks! All leads seated was the first thing I checked
Bealieboy 1,625
Ok, so that's coil and leads eliminated and also probs crank sensor. What next? Right, I googled it and came up with this....... Sounds like the coilpack, if you've lost 2 cylinders. There's three coils, so two cylinders go at a time with it.And I don't think a coil pack fail will show up on VAG-COM, either. (The engine will just notice the extra fuel in the exhaust and try to run it leaner on the remaining cylinders, I don't think it'll be able to directly tell that there's a misfire (or no-fire) on some cylinders. Could be wrong, but...
