jamesw6810 80
DIY mate, the only way youll ever truly be happy with the standard. £40 should see you right if just an oil and filter change, i did mine including plugs for £47. At least ill know the oil is right, the sump plug wont be rounded off and the oil filter is put on un threaded and hand tight plus a twist and the plugs are torqued in correctly. 2 bad experiences would prompt me to diy. MK4motionVR6 41
Just out of curiosity.. Don't wanna sound rude but why don't you do it yourself buddy, it's not difficult to do a basic service.. If you have any way about you with practical skills, it'll save you a lot of money eventually, plus it's a good way for you to learn about what's under the hood of your car. veedubjay 2
I see what you mean, and i would do the basic service myself but i should have mentioned there are a couple of other bits that need looking at and seeing as ive only had the car for a week, i thought it would be a good opportunity for someone more skilled to carry out the jobs and give me their opinion of the car overall i.e. Its in good health etc. I had a good look around the car when i bought it but there may have been something i missed for instance. Bealieboy 1,625
I can recommend schilwards German car specialist at great Leigh's near Chelmsford, Essex. I use them for all 4 of our vehicles servicing, mots and repairs. Never had a problem with them and as they're only a small concern, it is a bit more of a personal service. veedubjay 2
Not going to be needing a mechanic for a while now guys...Tony came over today and diagnosed the car has having a head gasket failure. That was the result of a compression test.
