shail 0
Just a quikie. 1. Does anyone know the spec for VW Synta oil ?! 2. Can you mix different oil when topping up ?! Its just that i've got Synta in the engine, and a stack of Magnatec in the shed & she needs topping up every now and then.Shail
28v6r 0
Provided the grade of oil is the same i.e 10w/40 to 10w/40 (example) then yes you could mix the oils. Personally I'd say that the Magnatec is a better oil than the Synta, So I'd go for that one but it's up to you... as stated make sure the grades are the same and genuine filters are used only.Regards28v6r
VR6Steve 0
I do use both genuine & MAN oil filters (from GSF) and have to say there is absolutely no visual difference between the 2 whatsoever.
28v6r 0
Hi Steve,My guess then is that you change your oil at less than the regular intervals i.e say every 3-4k miles then??No Bad thing there then!Regards28v6r
VR6Steve 0
You would be about right there 28v6r. Had the car since Sept 02 and just about done 10k in it. Probably changed the oil for various reasons about 5 times in that period. :-) (when i got it, when the chains were done, after the chains were done, when a new oil cooler was put on and those are just the one's I can remember!) six appeal 53
So is it Ok to use the Mann Oil Filters from GSF? Only reason I ask is that I'm planning on doing an oil change this weekend, and have already got my Filter from GSF.
VR6Steve 0
Six, both of us use MANN filters in our VR's. My other half is obsessed with hers and believe me if they were not right she would not have it in her car. Our mate looks after our cars for us and has a 16v himself and also uses MANN filters. There really is no diference. The fuel filter however is smaller than the VW item, but again our mate said it was still ok to use.
