The Duke 27
Change of plan could be on the cards. After chatting last night I'm seriously thinking of building a road legal track day car but I'm not sure what the deal is when it comes to the MOT. 1. Would there be a problem if there's no interior so no door cards, seat belts, roof lining, abc pillars, i.e just buckets, dash and harnesses?2. Are Perspex windows an issue?3. My car comes with an airbag I've read somewhere I need to has this in for the MOT is that right?4. Is there anything else I need to consider? I'm thinking a track day car will be more fun then a show car and give me more things to do and I don't live to far from Brands. I can still turn up to shows obviously but never really was building any kind of show winner and like I say gives more options for fun!!! Thanks for any help.
Daverse 175
Youll need seatbelts and airbags as it came with them as standard. Could use race harnesses though? Cant see perspex windows being a problem but im not sure to be honest. Not sure on your plans for the engine but some tracks have funny sound regulations when it comes to exhausts. The Duke 27
I think I'm alright with harnesses as long as there anchored down probably. I've still got the standard steering wheel so I'll use that for MOT's. As for the engine I'm not going to build some crazy 600 brake engine I was going to use bike throttle bodies and cams maybe. As for exhaust I've already got a wrapped 6 branch, high flow cat and 2.5inch bore system and was going to keep that but maybe change the rear box for a single exit but that's just for looks as I'm bored of the twin exit systems. CALICO 130
You will need interior door covers for track use if removing door trim Perspex windows are fine except windscreen, seat belts are needed for seats fitted.
The Duke 27
I think the seat belt thing depends who go to, I was chatting to a mot fella early and he said harnesses are fine as long as there bolted down properly but he did say you can't change the windscreen
