mike79 0
Just thought I would ask a simple question, seeing as I am once again going to be hunting for a Mk3 VR6....I sold a MINT 1995 16v GTI with low miles, full history, miltek, Koni's, Clifford full closure, T&T, blah blah blah for £3700 around 18 months ago. This took a lot of advertising to get a sniff at it.Last May I sold my 93 VR6, Cobra total closure, Bilsteins, FSH, 119k, Alpine HU etc etc and again, it took a lot of advertising to get interest. It sold for £1600. How come I had such issues selling genuine cars, but I see cars advertised at the current time at prices well above what I got for mine?My question is, are people getting what they are advertising cars for, or are they being haggled down/being unable to sell cars?I see '93 VR6's on autotrader for £3k, with higher miles that what I sold mine for 9 months ago... from my experience, this price is mince (more than double what I got for mine), or is the Aberdeen location a killer when selling a car????Any ideas/experience appreciated.Mike

Macca 1
I sold my 94 VR6 a month or so ago, with 121K for £2600 (i advertised at £2900).Sold it just through a few website ads eg clubgti and this site. Actually put it on autotrader just before it sold and i was swamped with calls the moment the ad got in the magazine! Ended up thinking i should have asked more for it!Deffo put it in autotrader, thats what most people look at, guess location has a lot to do with it and maybe why youre having probs! Was a good car, and im missing it, especially as im being so slow getting my new car on the road
binliner 0
prices are all over the place at the moment especially on early high mileage cars (highlines are a bit more consistent and still get the best prices) but dont listen to my advice on prices as it may offend [ Edited Sat Apr 09 2005, 08:15AM ]
acf8181 0
i think location has loads to do with it....i was gonna advertise my '93 with 119k for £2500 (as standard, more if they want bits), and dont need to as i have about 5 people seriously interested already! but then mine is shinier than the average tornado red golf...though i think the fact the chains have been done on it and it has fsh makes people more interested...chains are best part of a grand to do, and most need it doing (maybe i shoudl start buying cheap vr's, doin chains myself and selling them on at profit?!)worth remembering that 5 doors are a lot less disired...and even worse if auto.even so i think you gave yours away....unless it was tatty.
