The Vortech kit will be fine to fit to a UK car, regardless of where it is sourced from. UK cars may require a different chip, but it's a good idea to get a custom remap done anyway, especially if you are running other mods like the Schrick.

Base price of the Vortech kit from Europe is about £3000. From the US, the same kit comes to £1900 largely due to the decent exchange rate.

An APPROXIMATE figure for import duty is 2.7%, then you have to pay VAT on top of the total. This brings the total to a shade under £2,300 not including shipping costs.

So it's still well worth doing. I'm going to buy one from these guys:

If you want one as well, let me know and I'll set up a group buy thread.

I'd recommend buying a used vortech v1 or v2 rather than a VF-Engineering kit. Better value imo. These chargers are bullet proof so I wouldn't be afraid of buying s/h and saving a bit of money. Personally if I was buying new I'd be going for a C2 Motorsports kit.

Second-hand ones do come up from time to time, but are in such huge demand that they usually sell for around £1500 anyway. People "say" that they have managed to buy them cheaper than this, but I've never seen the evidence....

There are always some for sale on vwvortex from $2000-3000 and a couple of months back there was one for under $2000.

I paid under £1000 for mine from the UK which was cheap but they are fairly rare and would easily cost £1500 s/h and that's if you could find one. The only real option is to import one new or s/h to avoid the huge UK price.

why get rid of the schrick to get a charger, they basically go hand in hand.. id rather save up personally and hope that on crops up cheap somewhere, be it uk or us.

also dont forget that you pay VAT and duties on the postage cost too. when i got my turbo shipped from canada it cost a total of £2100. thats $2500 for the kit, $400 for shipping and the rest is duties and vat. dont know what the current exchange rat eis but it may work out cheaper. id deffo get one from the us. theyre rediculous prices. and C2 are amazing, most of the VRT guys use em and have no problems.
