The story of Doog.

This is what he looked likewhen i first got him, had some mk4 style lights which i changed to cl's. Also changed the de-badged grill:

Pressed plates:

Changed the momo for a mk2 / rocco wheel:

th_IMAG0041.jpg

th_IMAG0055.jpg

Put in black highline leather interior and wired in the heated seats under the dash / carpet:

th_IMAG0087.jpg

Then smoked the front lights, quite a lot.

After:

th_IMAG0098.jpg

th_IMAG0053.jpg

Then bought 2 sets of merc 8 hole wheels, 1 staggered and one the same. Stretched tyres, Got coilovers, changed the half red rear lights all fitted at the same time:

Now:

He's off the road and tucked away for more ponies.

Stripped off the rear beam, (breaking both ABS sensors in the process)

Picked up a Schimmel charge cooler:

th_IMAG0390.jpg

Also got a ported/polished head and 312mm TT Quattro brakes, but no photos yet.

Polybushes:

th_IMAG0384.jpg

Out with the old:

th_IMAG0382-1.jpg

A bit lost here, i've offered up the new bushed but the lip is in the way, can you grind the end off or does the sleeve in the above photo have to come out?

Any help appreciated!

And this is up to date, currently awaiting a mini-digger to get the engine out and start the real work! Going boost!! (eventually lol)

Thanks for reading!

Got the metal from the old bush removed (thanks to paul parky, cheers mate!)

powerflex' pressed in, masked off and gave the beam 2 coats of black hammerite:

th_IMAG0410.jpg

Decided to start stripping the car:

th_IMAG0400.jpg

Goodbye heat shields:

th_IMAG0409.jpg

Everything off the underside:

th_IMAG0404.jpg

th_IMAG0408.jpg

Hope to have the majority of the underside coated by the end of this week. I've have a few tins of this (http://www.hammerite-automotive.com/underbody.htm) stuff, however having second thoughts. Because it doesn't dry and stays sticky, i'm thinking of coating the arches in hammerite and the floor with the underbody seal. Anyone for / against?

Ciao, GG

Thanks!

Well this weekend a few things happened,

Removed the old pads from the front & rear brakes, cleaned them up, retracted the pistons, fitted new pads and painted the calipers purple to match the bay:

th_IMAG1177_zps7e6e99fc.jpg

Cleaned up & fitted the front discs:

th_IMAG1149_zpsdcd50afd.jpg

th_IMAG1159_zps9253f712.jpg

3" Downpipe back exhaust system:

th_IMAG1195_zps63ca696d.jpg

Rear brakes partially fitted, fuel tank fitted, new drilled / grooved discs, pads & wheel bearings :)

th_IMAG1197_zps492280c9.jpg

The plan was to fit my good ridge braided hoses, but i seem to have bought the wrong ones in error, I'm not sure what they're from, though will post up some pics and see if anyone else knows.

I also now have black a, b + c pillars and standard vr6 side skirts, which I've never had, but always wanted to fit :) That leaves the inside looking like this atm, a bit of a mess!

If anyone can help with which wires go where here, i would be grateful!

Green - back left - oil temp sensor MFA

Yellow - front left - high oil pressure sender

Blue - front right - low oil pressure sender

From the pic looks like your temp sender has broken its tab? They are only about 3 quid (last time I bought one they were anyway) from VW

So apart from a few small hiccup's everythings great! Averaging around 27MPG and running 10psi - Boost is really addictive and it surprises a lot! In love with the sound of the screamer pipe!
The main hiccup was getting it running after it had been filled up with fuel - Dougie came to the rescue and spent his sunday working on it (Cant thank him enough for this, the man is an absolute lifesaver!) It turned out the uprated fuel pump in the tank from a donor car had been wired in with scotchlocks!
The most recent hiccup was also due to the previous owner of the donor. The car wouldn't start and in the end traced it down to a oil pressure sensor (blue one) that was jammed with a cunt load of thread tape, Swapped it out & started first time!

There will be more photo's and a full spec list in the next update, At the moment its on daily duties and the plans for the near future are to get her back into Trix for a service, start cleaning up the engine bay & keep my eyes peeled for some new wheels :)
