rsweeney 40
just fitted decat and there is back pressure but not that much , is this normal ? decat is made from the old cat with inners cut out + welded up - i also put exhaust sealent around weld to make sure it wouldnt blow its running standard exhaust sytem bar decat and the gti supersprint still fitted
russj249 2
Yea its normal, if you loose the cat you loose a lot of back pressure.. you might notice it popping a lot more on overrun. Also I noticed that you seem to loose a little amount of torque unless other mods are tuned to suit.
rsweeney 40
ok thanks , sound is awsome i have a cone filter but would i need something like BMC CDA to counter torque lost ? the gti supersprint fitted is restricting it i guess ? i have a remus backbox for a jetta but half way through modifying it to fit
craggsy 91
You will need a turbo to replace lost torque
oldmandon 1
You will need a turbo to replace lost torque LOL That's extreme, as you will get LOADS more torque!!!!!!Get a decent exhaust and cone filter, or panel filter with the air box drilled out, and that should be enough to counter the slight loss in your original torque level, in fact it should increase SLIGHTLY!! Biggazvr6 0
The best pipe size IMO is 2.25" any bigger and it tends to be quite boomy in the cabin. If your running decat, it's best to replace the cat with a straight thru box somewhere in the system. Depending on how loud you want it, I'd run a small box under back seats and a small box at the back, all straight thru. This will give you a nice sound but not too loud. You need to keep the same amount of boxes as the oe system but use straight thru design. Research or look at the miltek systems. They make a reasonable sound and a exhausts make should be able to make this sort of setup for arround 2/3 the price of the miltek. Hope this helps.
