Recommended Posts

Hi, As a new owner of a Golf VR6, I am hoping you guys may be able to help me with identifing a part and possibly where I can source one from. The part in Question is 021129101A and it is a breather valve of some kind, whihc I believe is connected to the head/rocker cover? Any ideas where I can get one of these from? Cheers.

They are pretty expensive from VW, but you can get the same thing from Ford for much cheaper, as its the same setup as on the Ford Galaxy VR6.

I think you can get the from TPS too.

The valve is on the top left of the engine, from the rocker cover to the intake pipe. Very common to split.

Perfect. Thanks so much. It's the first job of many I have to do. Ithe rear passenger side window wouldn't work and started to drop last week so I took the door panel off to fi d that a piece of carpet gripper had een tie wrapped to stop it coming down. I got the mechanism out of the door though and found that the hexagonal lug on the cable would not locate in the window carrier so I made up a clip to captivate it. It all works lovely now. The next job I think I need to do is replace the heat exchanger. I am losing water from the engine coolant bottle and when I put the heater to warm. It's steams up the whiole car.

Is it a big job to replace the heat exchanger or Could it be done easily. Cheers.

Hi, had mine changed last year i there is a decent picture guide somewhere, cant find the link but google heater matrix removal. vaelo do a replacement try GSF. one point when its being done you may have to take a connector from the old one and duplicate a hole and fit it to the new (its a vacuum hose for the recirc button) if you have aircon its more difficult. why not bypass it and get it done in better weather (no hot air though!)

TPS are Trade Parts Specialist.. they have branches all over the place, so probably best have a search on the net for your nearest one. An aftermarket one from GSF or Euro Car Parts type retailer as said in the post above will be cheaper though. But worth a price from as many places as possible.

hi

Just to bring this post up to date part number 021129101A, has now been discontinued by VW as a single part.  The same part that you could get from Ford which was compatible, has also been discontinued as a single separate part, it is now only available as a complete full breather pipe unit......

The good news is that VW charge £125.00 for the complete part and ford are charging £274.00,also TPS can only supple the full unit now best price £100.00

Sorry for being the bearer of the bad news, you could try to locate a used part from another source but is it really worth the hassle and you're cash.

Just  read your post and was wondering why u decided to change this part out? Wot were the symptoms? My car's running like a bag of nails once upto temperature. Changed leads, plugs coilpack etc and it's not any of these. Have been informed it could be an air leak was wondering if it could be this part that's goosed? Cheers Euan
