Ive had this old girl since 2010 and loved every minute of it but 192k later shes getting a bit tired and the tin worm is setting in so i decided i wanted a new motor, i'd been looking for a while but never found something i really liked and then i spotted this little beauty a few texts later and i was off to south wales to view her, i knew straight away i had to buy it so three days later i returned with the cash and brought it home.

How she looked when i brought her

Although it was a nice looking motor, it was too high for me so this weekend coilovers and mk4 style headlights went on and gave it another wash

How it looks now

Havent had it a week yet but its soon taking shape

  • 10 months later...

well its been a long time since ive updated this thread down to one thing and another but im gonna try and keep it up to date now.

Unfortunately in october I manged to get myself disqualified from driving for 12 months :( so its been sheeted up since then! a couple of weeks ago I talked the lorry driver at work into picking it up for me so i could get some work done whilst its off the road.

collection day

As soon as i got it back to work i set to stripping all the interior as i knew i had a few little rot issues that needed attention, once id got all the interior out this is what i found......

rkdg1i.jpg

reminded me a lot of my last mk3 (spent a lot of time welding new floor into that one)

so i set about cutting all of the infected metal out and got left with this

now it was time to weld a new piece in (welding bodywork isnt my strongest point so you'll haveo excuse the poor welds).

and thats the finished article just had to underseal it after but i never took a photo.

A random picture from when i was welding it

I fitted some mk4 rear calipers during the week and bled them up quite a lot but the pedal still feels quite spongey, anyone got any ideas why this is or experienced it?
