swayv6 0
Hi folksWriting from NZ...I managed to buy a replacement ECU out of the UK for my 1997 Golf VR6 (just in case mine goes - they are cheaper in UK than NZ).Fitted it OK....and tested, but found it has the security function (when we start the car it runs for a second then cuts out).Anyone know how to reset the ECU so it knows it is in the right car and allows it to start?FYI - all part numbers are same, just a newer ECU version that has the function fitted. Thanks for any help ... mightyvr6 0
I'm not sure it will work without rechipping the ecu and removing the built in immobiliser but others may know better......
VR6Pete 1,455
You will need to get the VAG-COM on it.... cliveyp is having the same problem!
ingham 5
reset ecu by diconscting batt for 15 minsshould run ok till you turn off or stall as that is when imbliser cuts in normal (fault code reader will say alsorts like ecu voltage low ansd ecu locked etc)ps you will need a vw computer to recode ecu(had mine done for £35at vw)they will need car)
