even the best plans have hiccups. just going to have to over come them! will do a big photo upload tomorow when ive finished my custom engine stand, utilising a mk4 golf rear stub axle, bearing, disc and a caliper for rotation ;) . hopefully picking the axle up in the next week or so. so then the real fab work can begin. thanks for the supportive comments, parky i have read through your build up thread ATLEAST 3 times now aha!

there are 3 types of people in this world. the basics. the mechanics. and the straight up lunatics. me you and several other members of this forum fall into the latter category. i do have some questions for you however, what thickness did you make your inlet from? i was thinking of going 4mm for heatsoak purposes and strength. secondly, how quickly does your turbo spool up? as im running the same size A/R but on a holset. and im debating weather to run t4 divided with a pulse manifold like yours, or build a full on 6 branch and run open port on hot side. views and opinions?

hi guys, me again, been flat out this weekend working on others cars, managed to get a couple of hours on mine today, have started building my custom engine stand, probably could have brought one, but ive got all the materials laying around at home. heres a few pictures as its not finished yet :)

basically ive made the frame to bolt to the engine, welded a mk4 rear disc and hub together, then welded the disc to the frame. the stub axle is welded to the floor stand and i will control rotation by a series of holes in the disc with a locking pin :) bit rough , but it will work and its free.

hopefully get the stand finished the week, the engine stripped to bare block and the rest of the inside welded and painted before it rusts again. got to start stripping back the front inner arches for seam welding too, and also the engine bay :)

I used 10swg, which is nearer 3mm, aluminium for the inlet manifold, plenty strong enough. And turbo spool was very good, cant remember exactly when it came in though, but i was suprised! I've always been under the impression that using the divided housing, and splitting the exhaust gasses going into the turbo will lower the rpm when the turbo spools.

thanks parky, helped alot, i was planning on using 10 swg . as this is what ive built fuel tanks from before. regards to the turbo manifold, i was also under the impression that using split pulse is better for lower rpm spool, so i will build a 6 branch pulse split manifold.

updates for today

finished building the engine stand :D pictures below ;)

sorry for the poor quality pictures, iphones are crap for unlit areas! i will take some with a proper camera tomorow, and will also start stripping the engine once ive finished refitting a honda gearbox in the morning.

comments welcome :)

sorry i havent updated for a while guys, no pictures this time im afraid, buttt hopefully im picking up the running gear before christmas, and im determined to have it fitted by then, so i can finish off all the welding inside and get the inner arches and engine bay fully etch primered, along with the inside, so that it doesnt go rusty over the winter months, after that its a case of waiting for a bit more free cash to get the cage, then the real fun begins ;)
