russj249 2
Suppose I'll never find out the figures for it, so anything is possible.. it was my 1st ever time at a strip, never done a launch before this, so took me a few attempts to get it kind of right lol, my 1st launch against a skyline r33 (which I forgot the press record lol) I pulled into the water and did my burnout thing but stopped in the water haha took me ages to get it off the line at 4k revs! But if an impreza stopped it the water would be a different story! Back on to topic a bit regarding civic type r's etc, it was very hit and miss, there was a couple of lads both with civics from.west midlands Japanese car club we got talking to, and some runs were faster, some slower so too close to call.. wouldn't like to predict the winner on the road. b road blaster 0
tbh never had or driven a civic just not for me mate but as said you could well be a natural at the strip you never know unless you go again lol lol
craggsy 91
The VR6 becomes a different beast when you add forced induction, along with the handling mods that should be done as a matter of course.A VR6 turbo opens up a whole can of fun that needs to be itched.....superchargers are fun but not as much as a turbo.Oh and then add AWD into the equation and it becomes serious lolHence why I bought teh R32T
russj249 2
I'd imagine the civic would be quicker off the line, but would be good to see who would win on an uphill! Lots of hill round by me lol. Surely the v6 torque would give a huge advantage. Would be interesting if they made a 1/4mile uphill strip lol
craggsy 91
Santa pod is uphill..not a steep one but is uphill none the less
b road blaster 0
ah best get some hillclimbing in then lol lol bungy is getting name down for this next yr mate at gurston (in southern meets section) .yes so very true craggsy fi in a 32 is a very nice beast indeed
russj249 2
And Craig hense why mine was up stealth last week for remap.. unfortunately air flow meter is too close to turbo, so a boring 50mile drive home to fix it so many things to play with on way home too! Maserati Gran Turismo, Yamaha R6, Ferrari f430. LOL
b road blaster 0
hmm not sure how you would have faired against the r6 tbh mine used to show 170 and 0-60 is around 3 sec but again chuck in a few bends and you would do him in the bends my old r6's
craggsy 91
Always the same when ya car aint running right. When I had a slipping clutch after Inters 2010 was on the M1 and a Porka 996 turbo and a GT3 went buy and i couldnt do a thing
russj249 2
Lovely bikes there, one of my favorite looking bikes. Do you think a car in the right gear could stick with a bike, say from 60mph onwards? Never really had a play, only my mates zx6r when it was limited to 33bhp as he was only 18, where I could pull away from 40mph onwards, never been out since he's had limiter off and its now 120bhp odd lol
Rustyman 0
Good Vids Russ ... I do think shedding some weight on the old Mk3 helps.. hence mine has lost lots.. did you know the standard seat rails weight a ton too .. only noticed when fabricating my bucket seat mounts these last 2 weeks... loose the sound dedening under the carpets... if fact ditch the carpet lol,,, and if you ditch the sunroof mechanism that's more too boot as well as the rear windscreen motor... 50kg at least gone. b road blaster 0
tbh no chance in a straight line but a car will allway be better through the bends as you got 4 bits of rubber not 2 lol lol only car that beat me and that was on a gsxr 750 was a maclaran f1 road car kicked my ass big time lol lol
russj249 2
I would, but it is my everyday car so like my comforts. Plus I like the understated standard look, specially now the turbos nearly done, just gotta get it back over to stealth. On another note, has anyone ever had a vr weighed? A lot of websites with weights state different figures, and the MOT test weights chart at work say another thing. Would be brilliant to know the weight of a standard car, and then a stripped out car. Then a quick calculation of bhp/ton to see what the difference would be. Suppose handling would benefit more than performance.

Mastiff 0
I must add regarding MK3 Golf's now..... VR to a MK3 GTI or GTI 16v is a different car, well as in performance. My wife has an 8v GTI Golf and it is seriously poor regarding performance. A 16v is not that much better.....VR6 is so much better, only thing is.....They love fuel! I have been told a UK Scoob is the same as in MPG as a VR6?!?!

b road blaster 0
I must add regarding MK3 Golf's now..... VR to a MK3 GTI or GTI 16v is a different car' date=' well as in performance. I have been told a UK Scoob is the same as in MPG as a VR6?!?![/quote']standerd uk scoob about the same vr may be a little better but tune a scoob and look out my first one was just under450 atw and on track 3 mpg on road best i got was 13 my sti was around 15 avrage (330)
Rustyman 0
Slightly off topic but not much ... i raely see VR go pop compared to their Jap counterparts when charged is this because the VR block and bottom end is diesel based ???
b road blaster 0
just better built i think lol lol
spadam 7
well the prodrive is just a uprated ecu and brakes' date=' suspenion set up normaly which takes them to around 260-280.unless it was a jdm car and he got them to work on it so then yes it well maybe 340.you may well find also that you are very good on a strip and he was crap you just never know mate.haveing had 4 scoobs i'm not saying that they are the best car but a long shot as like all cars they have lots of faults but strip work and road use are two totaly diffrent driveing styles.[/quote']Prodirve bugeye or blobeye scooby is 305BHP and comes with a prodirve sticker and a ceritifcate to state the mods carried out. The diffeence is ecu, exhaust, filter and brembo brakes which were optional etc on the sti. My mate had a blobeye scobby prodrive with additional mods and it made 351bhp and as nice as it was it was never that quick imo. Obvisouly there is far more potential with them. russj249 2
So from what you're saying Spadam, the 340 sticker 'could' have indicated bhp? Obviously with a few extra little mods..
spadam 7
Sorry officail prodrive sticker should read 305bhp will find a link. What i was meant to say is if you buy a factory fitted prodrive kit you can easily obtain 350bhp with decat, fuel pump and remap.
spadam 7
Sorry 305ps Heres link http://www.prodrive.com/up/03MY%20STi%20PPP.pdf
