oldmandon 1
I've got a couple of days off work, some came into town to pay a cheque into my bank. I decided to go to Maccie D's for a capuchino, whilst in the very small queue, a couple of girls stormed off as they weren't served STRAIGHT away, then there was a lad waiting for his double sausage burger. The assistant called out for his double burger, the lad walks up takes the burger with a very don't mess with me look on his face and not even a grunt of acknowledgement or thanks for the assistant. I felt like slapping the little s**t. WHY are kids growing up so RUDE and so UNGRATEFUL. has our generation really failed as parents? Cos it certainly seems that way.........Rant over, gonna drink my cappuchino before it gets cold.....
Nex 17
Fully agree, a swift beating or some time in the military would do wonders for most of these kids! I don’t think it is entirely on the parents , well not all of them, but lets face it there are some who need a kicking too! the problem is fear or a lack of as it were, the power has been taken away from the parents, police ect.. so the kids have nothing to fear. When l was young we were asked twice and if we didn’t listen we got a smack, and so we listened and behaved cos we know there would be consequences if we didn’t, which gave us a bases for respect. There is next to no consequences for kids these days, so they feel they have the right to be tw*ts and do what ever they hell they like.Right sorry l could rant on this subject for a long while cos it irritates me so intensely! But l wont lolAll l can say is if by some cruel twist of fate l do have kids someday, they will be raised in the same manner l was
craggsy 91
A lot of it is there is so many ways to comunicate now that face to face is not practiced now.......and you can be a keyboard warrior on faceache/twitter/text/email.I too waqs brought up to respect elders and it was also under the threat of "Just you wait till your dad gets home!" that worked everytime lol
nivag27 5
Agreed all kids need to be led or they will lead you simple.
bethslad 1
The problem is that were not allowed to discipline kids in the same way as some of us were, blame the beigists as the big yin would say everything is way to politically correct these days but a good slap in the lug never did me any harm :-P
bungy 2
Single parent only child infectious attitude. I know I'll get flamed for saying that but I know my beans and it's true. I'd better add IMO.

I just knew we'd have a smart assed comment from someone!!!!!! lol, and funily enough I thought it would be Mr Seabrook!!!!!!But many a true word has been said here, about lack of fear, and respect for elders. I too used to get a smack now and then, and most of the time I was bought up in a single parent household (Mr Bundy). But the system just seems to have failed. Now it's a case of ohhhh he's naughty, lets reward him, or, lets discuss your actions and the consequences they caused...no thanks I'm off out..oh, ok see you later........ All thanks to the IDIOTS that think a slap as punishment is ABUSE.....no it's not. A BEATING is abuse, a SLAP is CHASTISEMENT. And it WORKS..........So Leave us alone to bring OUR kids up as we wer and the country might be in a better state than it is NOW.........
Ben Seabrook 4
Lol the thing is mate i believe the ratio of good / unruly children these days is probably exactly the same as its always been its just that rather than play truant or steal penny sweets nowadays they are robbing tellys and beating people up ! Its the whole of our society that has changed not children, the boundaries the expectations the opportunities the desires and this is what causes the problems ! Some better more simple life values wouldn't go amiss these days inmo

For a family to survive the senior male went to work closely followed by the eldest sons. The wives kept house and looked after the children along with eldest daughters. Discipline was strong as it had to be for large numbers living in small houses.Roll on 2 world wars and families were smaller due to loss and expectations grew the NHS only started in 1948 and with the boom and expectations of the 60's family planning only really started in 1974. From these seeds families became smaller and seperation tolerated. Along with smaller families came less tolerance for seperation and more for compassion. How many parents have you heard call their siblings friends or buddy? Children have fewer role models as those in the limelight are uncontrolled and film and gaming portray violence. Add all these factors together and very quickly and in only a few generations acceptable behaviour is where it is now. I know this isn't everyone but cast your minds back to the recent "riots". We have now produced a generation that feels isolated, angry and entitled with a lack of core values to mends their ways. A long dit I know but hey just my opinion formed from dealing with some of the nations worst and under privileged.
oldmandon 1
Bundy, I wasn't having a retort back at you, I was just pointing out that even in a single parent family of old, kids ie myself and siblings were still bought up correctly with respect for elders etc. I know this is a touchy subject for some, and a subjective one for others, but it is so annoying seeing kids of today with no respect for others or others property/belongings regardless of where they live, or how many parents they have. But it really does appear to me that as parents, our generation has failed. It's our generation that comes up with these daft legislations, it's our generation that comes up with stupid morales. I think it all stems from OUR parents smoking too much hash in the 60's!!!!!!

Lukey. 381
the basic plotline goes like smarter people keep putting off having kids so all the idiots and morons breed, so society takes a downward spiral till everyone is just a fighting moron

bungy 2
I personally don't think it is entirely this generations fault but more of a sequence that has happened over the past 2 or 3. I certainly don't know the answer to societies problems but I do have very clear idea's on how Sonia and myself are bringing up our children.
craggsy 91
If and when I have kids they will get a clip round the ear if they play up. When they are old enough that is tho
Lukey. 381
a woman that worked at the same place my gf did appeared in court for that, seriously, she smacked her daughter for being a little sh!te, not a beating, and the daughter phoned the pigs.its all about respect, or lack thereof, i demand it from people who should give it to me, cos it pisses me right off
Daverse 175
I feel ashamed to be classed as a 'yoof', I look at how some of my old school friends are growing up now, most went straight onto benefits, and mostly just t**ts!!

Rustyman 0
Well kids these days don't get it do they ? Life is handed to most of them on a plate... we all want better for our children than we had only sometimes that's not a good thing .... I agree a stint of national sevice would do the next ten years worth of kids some good respect and curtosey .I see it all the time i go shopping with the wife i hold doors open for total staringers do i get a thank you ? Do i buggery !!! if i am lucky i get a grunt.. and it's happening more often now with the older generation not saying thank you.... funny thing is my wife says " don't say thank you will you " at the top of her wigan / scouse voice lol espec when it's round the trafford centre... and you shopuld see the daggers from some. None have the balls to reply back thoughNational service would solve a lot ... teach th kids respect a trade and manners. It solves the jobless problms they don't have to go front line fighting just the work back here in the uk bhind the scenes ... then they get out or continue serving and hey presto job don solves the Univrsity places fiasco .. Good old blighty giving the yooth's a smack for a changeoh and anyone who says at 34 i have no idea ... i did my National service for Spain until recently they still had it .. think about it foreign country i couldn't speak spanish even though i was 2nd gen taught me a lot and to value my family and life in the UK !! Rant over lol...
