Fuel Pump fuse keeps blowing

Recommended Posts

Going to work my 97 golf vr6 cut out for no reason, found that the fuel pump fuse had blown, changed it tried to start her and the same thing happened again. Changed the fuel pump relay and its still doing the same. I've run a direct live to the pump and it is working fine. Tried unplugging the fuel pump with a fresh fuse in, Turn the engine over with pump disconnected and the fuse pops immediatly. I am guessing theirs a short in the cables somewhere, can anyone point me in the right direction as to where it could be shorting out. I need to get my vr running quickly as she is my daily ride:^)

Nice one, just found loose heatsheild above lambda sensor which has pulled the wiring harness down onto the exhaust, repaired two cables fastend heatsheild back up, replaced fuse and she's back to life. Thanks for that you've saved me hours of stress.
