tuned fuel economy and power can they go hand in hand??!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking that in the future after important work has been done, i.e. bodywork etc that I may look at supercharging or turbo charging the engine. I'm aiming for stealth power. A nondescript car (in comparison to supra's et al) that will surprise some of the bigger players.

Currently my car is averaging 20mpg around town, and thats not really pushing it, I'd like to know what sort of mpg I could expect from a car that would be capable of sub 5 seconds to 60mph, and what sort of power I'd need to get there in less than 5??

Over to all you tuning experts................

Or should I just buy an Audi A8 W10???!!!!!!!

just stick one of them in your bot' date=' you should have the edge over jap tuners :P not too sure about your mpg though..

That might be a bit extreme, also the car would no longer be nondescript with a ruddy great jet engine sticking out the back, people might suspect summats up!!! and economy about 40gallons to a mile I'd guess!!!!!!!!

I am a sub 5 sec 0-60 car and still get 30mpg ish in the R32.

Not that i can honestly remember as not had the car at home for 5 months lol

SWEEEEET..... except for not having the car at home for a while..... what power you pushing out? and does all the extra power make it unreliable then?...

Oh and the R32......SEXY as F**K was/is an option for a future purchase but has to be a blue 3 door....OOOOOOOHHHH excuse me for a min!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep its a DPB 3 dr running 470ish BHP and 440ish ftlb torque.

And its no more unreliable than any car. Only been off the road that long as garage was trying to work out why it wont work, should be back home this week all being well

Havent had mine on the rollers yet fella..

Looks standard mk2 from front, other than stipped interior, 5 stud wheels and oh yeah side exit pipe..

Expected 650bhp and 600lbs ft / tonne, and less than a tonne :)

Will be mot'd shortly so will get an idea of mpg but was doing 27-24 in old mk2 at 490bhp.. Not bad price to pay for smiles per mile.
