VR6-DUB 3
HiI have recently started to think about a simple / cheaper way of turbo charging my vr, i was thinking is there a car out there manufactured as standard with a turbo kit on it already that you can just unbolt the turbo bits from that car and bolt them on to the vr?Is this do able? or have i missed something big time?Sorry if this has been covered already i dont think it has.Open to opinions ideas etc :-)Cheers. spadam 7
Have a search for Jim porters thread he built a vr turbo for £1000. It can be done just look for bargains and to use oarts of exsisting cars like saab intercooler, injectors etc.
craggsy 91
Tho remember Jim knew what he was doing having been modifying cars for 101 years The simple answer is no there isnt another car that you can just take off from that to fit to the VR6. Turbs are turbos and can fit regardless, just some will run out of puff just when you need them to be pulling strong.Manifolds are unique to the VR as is the downpipe, along with all the intercooler pipework. As Adam says tho some stuff can be from other cars tho

CALICO 130
I bought my turbo that im not using with manifold for £200 from Paul Parky so there are bargains to be had.You would need a spacer plate to lower the compresion, bigger injectors and a downpipe for starters. FishWick 21
A 1.8T conversion is the easiest way to nick turbo bits from another car. It's such a popular mod these days you can probably get it in and running over a weekend. If you really love the big 6 though, the little 4 pot is obviously a no go. It is actually a really good engine when removed from it's bland as hell MK4 based donor car.

Apart from the R32, not especially :-)The missus has a MK7 Polo 1.8T, which is essentially a MK4 Golf. They're well made and all and VERY cheap parts compared to Corrados, but they're dull to drive. Too much positive caster removes all the steering feel. Good engine though, when freed from the emissions shackles!
