Seademon 0
Does anyone know the best way to fit a strut brace? I would have though you'd have to have the front wheels off the ground so that all the body work has no pressure on it so once the brace has been fitted nothing will be flexing or am I wrong? :@ Mines a 1997 & I've heard about probs with fiting these due to the aircon? I like the Nuespeed ones. Anyone have any experience with these?
Slim 0
There's a Neuspeed one on eBay at the moment, I suggest putting in a high bid.
DundeeDub 0
Trust you Slim...lolIt is a good brace and its well worth what slim has set the strarting price at.By the way the link is:http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=40192&item=7955100926&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
acf8181 0
braces do bugger all on vr6's....its a very stiff front end anyway. same for all golfs except mkI's, which are quite flimsy.do look good tho....and can be useful for tieing stuff to when you're doing engine work! lol
dubloke 4
have to disagree with you on that one andrew. my eibach brace made a difference on mine when i fitted it! made the front a little stiffer too tbh, but thats no bad thing!
Seademon 0
Thanks for the replys guys - Dubloke - Is your Eibach the one your have in your avitar pic? Looks cool! Did you have any probs fitting it? I had a strut brace fitted to my Calibra ( :@!) and it helped the handling a lot! I know its a completely different car etc but I'd like to fit one for the looks aswell as the handling benefits.
binliner 0
theres a bigger pic of an eibach one (excuse the filthy engine bay, it wont be that way for much longer )
VR6Pete 1,455
I had to sell my eibach strut brace as my air con pipes rn acorss the back of the brace and caused it to foul up
binliner 0
I think you just need to unclip the aircon pipes so they move a bit
Seademon 0
Thats the kind of one Im after - I saw a Nuespeed one somewhere that was black & silver, must have been for a different car or I dreamt it! Im on the look out for an Eibach one or similar now then so if anybody knows somebody that knows somebody... ;0)
binliner 0
keep an eye on ebay or classifieds is the best bet... the eibach one polishes up quite nicely as well
VR6Pete 1,455
binliner: I did, then the schrick fouled it up sold it in the end...
VR6Rich 3
If id known you just need to unclip the aircon pipes I would have bought yours Pete! :-) LOL
binliner 0
lol... I think VR6 Steve has an eibach strut brace with aircon (but not a schrick)
dubloke 4
they are easy enough to fit tbh, the aircon fouling can be got round as explained above. keep your eyes peeled on the classifieds around as they dont make the eibach ones anymore. and justins also right in the fact they look nice poilshed up!
