Vw_owner 1 Posted April 13, 2011 Report Share Posted April 13, 2011 let it idle or run it without the belt, you will have no powersteering, a/c {if you have a/c} and alternator wont be chargeing, but atleast you can tell if its any bearings from those units.process of elimination...oh yea dont run it for to long as the water pump wont be running!!!! makster28 0 Posted April 13, 2011 Report Share Posted April 13, 2011 slight revs 1200 rpm the noise starts and then the more it revs up the quicker the bursts with the same sound car sounds awfull and is turning heads for all the wrong reasons,local machanics are clueless around my area so going to ring vw and see how much they charge for a inspection il go up to £50 taken the money spent on it getting it right upto more money than i actualy bought the car for then goin off there news will depend on weather i keep it or not iv come to the end of my teather with it, a big lesson learned,also good thinking vr owner cud be worth a go Link to post Share on other sites

makster28 0 Posted May 23, 2011 Report Share Posted May 23, 2011 had the car in vw for a check on the tapping noise i am still having along with diognostic check and inspection,my brother took the car in as i was at work and when i got back and read the results it says the following,no faults in memory noise coming from top of engine possible work hydraulics advise customer to try hydraulic rejuvenator fluid,no faults in memory relating to worn chain,does anyone know how and were to apply this fluid? cheers guys Link to post Share on other sites

Engine flush is possibly what they are on about if it hasnt been serviced correctly but if its high mileage chances are the tappets might need replacing get a vw specialist to have a proper look and listen Link to post Share on other sites
