getting driveshaft back in ??

Recommended Posts

if it was me mate i would just remove the shaft from the hub side and start fresh, then fit the inner side first thats the hard end to fit but should be much easyer with the shaft removed, ive never had to lift the engines on mine but it will be snug.lol, then you should be fine getting the outter side in with the play from the ball joint removed and the flex in the cv.

just been thru this nutache myself, i unbolted the suspension and pulled it all out in one as my hubs were seized bigstyle, there was a bit of engine raisin involved with mine when fittin the gearbox bracket back in but the shaft went in with not too much bother, you do need spline sockets to undo/redo the bolts. As for the bearings they had me cursing the day away droppin all over the place with cv grease gettin everywhere! when you put these back in (if you have to cos you let them drop out like me) make sure the gaps the bearings sit in line up big to small not big to big n small to small like i first thought otherwise they will be tight and the joint wont pivot around at all. Christ im rambling sorry for those that already know this stuff

Remove the 3 13mm bolts on the bottom of the wishbone hub side and it will come off. They are just under the ball joint' date='

this just removes the ball joint , it doesnt seem to help getting the driveshaft back up into position ?

dont know what mk3's are like but if its anything like a mk4 , ,with those three bolts removed you should be able to pull the wheel bearing/hub housing out away from the wishbone which will then give you enough room to connect the driveshaft back up to the gearbox, just give it a tugg to pull the ball joint out of the wishbone,
