  1. just been thru this nutache myself, i unbolted the suspension and pulled it all out in one as my hubs were seized bigstyle, there was a bit of engine raisin involved with mine when fittin the gearbox bracket back in but the shaft went in with not too much bother, you do need spline sockets to undo/redo the bolts. As for the bearings they had me cursing the day away droppin all over the place with cv grease gettin everywhere! when you put these back in (if you have to cos you let them drop out like me) make sure the gaps the bearings sit in line up big to small not big to big n small to small l
  2. seems to shorten back n forth throw not so much side to side but sayin that i havent drove with it yet as im having serious gear selection probs and looks like i need a gearbox replacement. You need certain parts from your old gear stick to put it together for example if you lift your shift boot you will see the white part over the stick itself with the circlip on it and the reverse gear spring etc its easy enuff to do the hard parts taking all your gear linkage out to do it.
  3. Of all the times i needed to see that.....quality
  4. Ok so 2months or so ago i was driving my vr6 i pulled over to run an errand, got back in the car and i cudnt find any gears, when i thought id finally found first i ended up going backwards, eventually got it into third and drove home. My initial thoughts were that the cables had gone or stretched watever, so i messed around for a while but to no avail. I called a mechanic friend to cum and take a look and he could select gears manually from the bay but it was very hard for him to do and took about 10mins to find first. Once we found first i figured that it must be the cables so i ordered some
  5. What i wanted to hear! cheers Ben u always seem to be the first to help me ha, really appreciate it mate.
  6. Alrite guys n gals got a quick q, my gear lever has gone thought it was the cables but ive stripped it all off the car and the cables work spot on so something went wrong with the lever and it wudnt go into any gear at all, just wondering, does the b&m quickshift kit for the mk3 vr6 connect to these cables and replace the old lever completely or does it connect to part of the original gear stick housing? i rang venom motorsport and they assured me it would but i just want to confirm with someone who actually has purchased one. Dont wana go buyin a used replacement box wen i want a b&m
  7. hold on just rememberd, milltek came with a sleeve that extended to the original sleeve so dnt know if what ur lookin at buying will cum with one so probably the 710mm.
  8. i bought the milltek decat n it bolted to my existing magnex exhaust but i had to use the old sleeve that came off the cat to fit it which u may have to do, i wasnt given a size just told it would fit lol, my exhaust is no bigger than the original coming out of the cat tho so u shouldnt have a prob.
  9. appreciate all the advice people, dnt know when ill have the money for an engine yet anyway because of xmas creepin up on us, n im sure my car has ears cos soon as i mention r32 swap it decides to stop goin into 1 2 n 4th gears! great. Sound like a selector problem to you guys? clutch wasnt slippin or anything n still depresses fine.
  10. believe it or not ive just found one for that price and aparantly its complete, i forgot bout sellin parts on i dont need so thats a bonus lol, just wish i had 1100quid right now will be a few weeks til i do lol, this engine is bub code 25k from 2009 model so hes saying, hmmmm
  11. thanks ive had a read of ur build so far mate should be a cracker that, ive had experience strippin out a full car so i know how daunting all that is but good news to be able to keep the fwd so that saves a bit of work. im more of a drop into 2nd gear at 40mph kinda guy so off the line wheel spin doesnt bother me to much lol. If you dont mind me askin where did u source ur engine from? and cheeky to ask but how much?
  12. Yea i understand how much wrk is involved but just not clued up on r32s so how would the drive system wrk? could it stay fwd or would it have to be 4wd? silly qs i know but if ya dont ask.....
  13. nice one ben cheers mate!
  14. Yea but then id be spending more money than an r32 engine would cost lol. hmmm its a bit of an arse this decision.
  15. hey guys ive been doing a bit of thinkin and searching round the net on buying and puttin an r32 engine in my mk3. I love my car as it is but i just keep gettin that niggling need for speed and was wondering what peoples thoughts would be on this? aside from turbo or s/c this seems like the next route to take for big n/a power gains and i think id rather stay n/a tbh. Has anyone on here done this or know of anyone who has? I could buy cams and then remap but that would be about it and id probly only see 200bhp and dont get me wrong that makes a quick car but i just feel a bit greedy and want m
