Am I Ever Going To Get This Veering Sorted

Recommended Posts

Well I've been through a few things. New n/s engine mount as the old had some sort of residue over it. Tie rod ends (were needing replaced apparently). Got new coilovers fitted today, though the o/s/r is making a shit load of noise when going over bumps so its going back in on Monday.

The only thing we havent done yet which it could be are the top mounts and bearings. These were supposed to be done today but TMS supplied wrong ones. Though this is my last thought, any others. It isnt a bad veering but enough to piss me off and now this o/s/r suspension thing is frustrating.

Must be something to do with the new shockie or what the fitter has done because it wasnt there b4.

When you had the alignment done was it a full 4 wheel setup and did they give you the print out? If they did photo or scan it and post it up so we can see....

Also what is the wear like on your tyres? If your tyres have worn to match the failed components and you've changed those components then the tyres will still be pulling it over. Try changing front to rears...

just wondering what the clunking could be on the o/s/r now that the shox been changed, wasnt there before so defo something to do with new shock, faulty?

it does only come into play when the shock is being used, ie going over bumps etc but it sounds awful, like its grinding against something. also a week before i got a new wheel bearing put in that wheel, that wouldnt have anything to do with it would it?

Come to think of it they didnt give me a printout although they do advertise 4 wheel alignment. I got my printout from previous place but this was before the new suspension was put on and they said they couldnt adjust the camber. Iassume because the shock was knakrd?

More money? Why stop now eh lol

Had a GTIR before this and that was a drain as well.

It got done on Saturday and drove it home 4 miles and it didnt get any better, thot it might need driven in but they got a call when I got home and told it was coming back in on Monday.

I will ask them about the printout and see if I can get it.

Well got it back from garage and they couldnt see a physical problem with the shock so they switched it to the n/s/r and the problem is there now so its defo something to do with the shock. In contact with supplier who is saying send it back etc while I am saying send a new one up and I will send it back.

Re the veering, n/s/r swapped to front so will see lata what it feels like tho the tread pattern didnt indicate any abnormal wear.

Right, I cant seem to put a copy of scanned document on here because photobucket wont accept my scan. But I can tell you the red portions of the alignment. This wasnt the most recent alignment but should still be enough for any1 to point out any flaws. It was done after the engine mount and tie rod ends but before new top mounts and suspension. I know I should put a recent one in but it feels the same and hoping someone can tell something from this.

Left front - all green

Right front - the caster is red, 4 degrees 13', the rest green

Left rear - camber is red, -1 degree 06'

Right rear - camber is red -1 degree 43'

Total rear toe is red - 0 degrees 53', tho the left and right are green at 28' and 25'

Changes done. New n/s engine mount, new tie rod ends, new front top mounts, new suspension. Tyre pressures fine. I thought it was the camber but the camber is green in the alignment check.
