bungy 2
Are you saying the ign switch will not turn to ign 2 even though it has gone the first part of the turn to ign 1?
rsweeney 40
it turns so the dashboard lights come one and the radio turns on then turns a tiny bit further and the radio cuts out but nothing else happens
bungy 2
Need to confirm the battery is charged and that there is a good earth. If need be use a jump lead to confirm the earth. Also the starter solenoid and that the starter is not jammed.
rsweeney 40
tryed jump starting nothing happens , tryed two batterys, how do i test the starter solenoid ?
bungy 2
As you make ign (start) you should be able to hear the starter solenoid click as it actions.

CALICO 130
Locate the starter and hit the lump (solenoid) attached to it then try and start or try hitting it whilst someone turns the key
rsweeney 40
ok will give it a good try tomorrow, thanks
b road blaster 0
i thought you ment that the key would not turn past position 1 in the barrel
rsweeney 40
put key in, turn it once - no dashboard lights just radio. turn it again- dashboard lights and radio. then wont turn any further
b road blaster 0
to me it sound like the barrel is knackerd then if it turns to where it would normal go to to start the car then yes its the starter or starter related but if the key is not turning then it must be the barrel or compleate ing unit
rsweeney 40
i might remove the barrel, try to get a second hand one
bungy 2
Sorry but i thought you meant the barrel was turning but nothing was happening at position 2. Defo ign barrel fault....
CALICO 130
try removing the switch of the back of the barrel possibly a connection block normally are on old cars then it might free up but then you can stick a screwdriver into the connection block to see if maybe thats jammed
