VeedubVR 0
Story goes, I drove to a car meet, a few miles on the motorway, drove back to meet a few friends. By this time the engine was hot! Oil temp mid 90s, water tempwas smack bang in the middle. However when I went to start it it cut out a few seconds later. Tried again and it cut out instantly. Left it a bit and it went but it fells like its hesitating. Drop the clutch and let it idle and its at about 600-800 and sounds like its got massive cams! And sometimes cuts on. Any ideas? I'm at a car park trying to get home so quick responses will be appreciated! Thanks
bungy 2
Unplug the maf and see if it runs the same
VeedubVR 0
Call me a noob but you might have to direct me. I'm not mechanially minded in the slightest haha. What does it do? Can is cause problems unplugged?Thanksc
bungy 2
Mass Air Flow sensor is just up from the airbox and the ECU uses the information in it's calculations. When they are dirty or fail car runs like you describe. It will run disconnected at the plug but if faulty there will be no change in the running. If the running changes when you disconnect it indicates it is ok.
VeedubVR 0
The plug that's got 4 wires coming out of the connecter block, like a diamond shape? (You much think I'm such a tool haha)Thanks
bungy 2
Follow the air box back to the throttle body, between the box and the throttle body will be a link with a connector plug. Disengage and pull that out. This is mine on my 4mo.

bungy 2
Sounds like it is either dirty or faulty, have you got far to drive back. Not sure of the impications of driving without it but it seems to be the problem. Hang on a minute and i'll find out for you.

Ben Seabrook 4
nope you need to get a isopropyl alcohol spray and spray it into the maf housing mate all over the wire and then let it dry completley before starting up and dont try and rub or touch the wire as its very delicate
