jfb1977 0
Not having driven another VR6 I'm not sure if mine is 'normal'. It seems a little juddery on start up, revs go up a little before settling to idle and then whilst idling the car feels a little shaky. Nothing major, but you can notice it when sat in the car not moving.....any ideas anyone? ?!

jfb1977 0
Hmmm...doesn't seem pronounced enough to be a misfire.

Eat this 2
what reg is urs early (pre p reg i think) had an idle stabalizer valve this gets dirty and causes eratic idling vrs do idle at around 1000-1200 rpm on cold startup for s few seconds
shail 0
Mine does the same thing. Its only very slight on idle. Not worth worrying about, thats what i reckon. My last VR engine did the same as well.
jfb1977 0
That's what I wanted to hear Shail!! Eat this - mines a 1997 Highline.I'm gonna get The Phirm to give it a health check anyway, I only just heard of them (through this forum) and they're literally 10 mins from me. antera309 3
It's always worth checking your plugs & leads first when having problems like this.Go for a VAG-COM diagnostic next to see if there are any fault codes stored in the ECU.[ Edited Thu Feb 03 2005, 05:56PM ]
dubloke 4
isv would be the first place to check with such symptoms, but some of you with the later cars wont have one! a misfire is hard to detect on a car not under load, but take it for a drive and come outta corner in a gear higher than you normally would and see how bad the stutter isd! under load it will feel much worse and lack lustre! vag-com is the only way to really tell, but even then it takes a rr test with vag-com plugged in to tell. as i found out to my cost some years back when my coil pack was faulty! then you could only get it as a stealership=only part. OUCH!!
