bonesvr6 0
make a start on the head gasket! ;( it went at the weekend! knew it was weeping in the usual place but was hoping it would hold out till the armer weather came round. story goes, started it up sunday morning, after the missus has been using it for the last few weeks because ive been using my offroader for going to work and back, coolant light flashing, so the ther half runs and gets some water, tops up the water with the engine running......10-15 seconds later there was a massive load of steam out of the back end, turns it off.....went to start it again and just wouldnt start!;( THEN!!!! she says, "oh, it did that to me the other day, but it eventually got going again!" (and she didnt think to tell me this the day that it happened so at least i could have had a quick look round under the bonnet to see what the problem was) any way. loooked under the bonnet myself, mayo in the oil cap, and the expansion tank full of sludgy oil.......and empty;(hope to god it isnt more serious than just the gasket, because then it means hunting round for new heads and what have you. just hope its been caught early enough.....but expecting the worse case because at least that way its a nicde suprise when you find out its not as bad as you first thought!:-d

bonesvr6 0
got about an hour done, then got a bit manly and sheared one of the exhaust manifold studs off, so left it for today, just need to get me other socket set from me mates house so i can get the chain tensioner out and wait to borrow another mates tool for the head bolts then at least that should be done, another mate is going to take the head and get it skimmed by the company they use when they have heads skimmed. (handy having mechanic mates isnt it!:-dprogress pic......
bungy 2
It makes me feel cold just looking at the picture. Everything will be more brittle in this cold weather.

VR6Pete 1,455
I had a few bolts sheer off on the corrado. Luckily I bought a load of spares and applied plenty of wd40 before removing old ones
The Monk 50
Ah I remember those days of frozen fingers. I went through 2 cans of WD40 doing the clutch. Kudos for doing it yourself and I hope it's an easy fix
bonesvr6 0
i did have the chance to borrow my mates dads garage and hes got a 4post ramp in it....but just wanted to get it started! soon wished id waited! :/its not as bad as last year though.....completeley rebuilt a mates daihatsu fourtrack.....in the snow!!!!engine, gearbox, hubs, interior, dash, waxoiled, painted and suspension lift kit fitted! now that was cold!!!!!need to grab some plus-gas aswell.......found out after id started that id run out of wd40! BIG FAIL!not overly bothered about the stud though, the heads coming off anyway so that can be sorted when my mate gets it skimmed.
bungy 2
I prefer to use Plusgas instead of WD40. Always better to give it a couple of squirts the day before you are going to work on it.
bonesvr6 0
i prefer it aswell tbh, ive only got one stud to get off now, but i wont risk it just in case.but ill douse it in the stuff when i carry on with it, then atleast ive stil got the tensioner and the cam sprocket and them bits to get off before i need to touch it, time permitting.......i shoud have it up and running at the weekend
