Anybody know what a standard VR6 gearbox will take, power and torque wise. I've heard of them reliably accepting 350bhp but is this true?

The weakest point on the box will certainly be the diff but a quaife ATB should be more than capable.

Can anyone shed any light on the subject.

Cheers

I'm running about 275lb/ft or torque at the min on Gas and have had no problems as yet but i was wondering soon it may well be going over 310lb/ft and I was wondering will it survive, bare in mine my Mark2 is a much lighter car than a mark 3. Should be less stress on the box.

I've seen plenty of VR cars from the states running turbo's and getting up near 290lb/ft.

My box has been totally rebuit so hopefully it should be ok to take more power. I've an ATB diff installed which has the uprated diff bolts etc. The clutch I'm using is said to be good for 350bhp, have to wait and see on that.

These are just some of my concerns when I finally decided to put the charger on. As everyone has told me, it's gonna be abit of a unknown quantity because the VF Engineering R32 kit is designed for a Mark4 which is heavy 4WD car. Should make for an interesting drive when it's finally on and running right.
