richgti97 0
Hi all, just fitted my boxster twists.. but have a slight problem. The fronts are fine, but the rears are 8.5j fitted with stretched 205/40 rubber and sit in the arch just right with 25mm adaptors (arches have been rolled also) however were the rear bumper meets the wheel arch is rubbing on the top of the tyres when suspension compresses.. i cant see any way around this other than to adjust the camber and the toe angle slightly with use of either camber shims or washers. any further sugestions or anyone had this issue before? cheers all. Ben Seabrook 4
how much do they rub ? if not much go for some smaller profile tyres,
richgti97 0
the rear of wheel seems to stick out about 3-4mm so quite a bit, i think it wud still rub even with smaller tyre
Ben Seabrook 4
is the tread of the tyre past the arch mate ?
richgti97 0
the tread is inside the arch but at the rear of tyre it is right inline with were the bumper meets the arch if that makes sense, its hard to describe lol.
Ben Seabrook 4
ha ha yeah that makes sense well if the tread is inside you might be able to adjust the rears to pull it in but its harder as you cant adjust the camber with the suspension like you can on the front ! If you have coilies on the back if might be worth turning them up a couple of mm to see if that cures it but otherwise as you say its camber shims or something similar mate or swop your 25mm adaptors for someone with 20mm adaptors ? Ben Seabrook 4
also as you have just put them on if you havent already then it might be worth getting the 4 wheel alignment & tracking etc all done and then should tell you what the camber is when they do that too my wheels were 8 x16 et 35 and with 25mm adaptors they sat perfectly although one rear arch rubbed slightly when the car was very full
richgti97 0
think im gona give 195/40 tyres a go and adjust camber slightly with washers and see how that works or doesnt work1 haa.
VeedubVR 0
Is it catching on the bumper? The tyres on my RFs were catching the corner of the rear bumper and those has near enough single ET figures on the back. I had the arches rolled so I know it couldnt be the arches. When the car went in for paint we cut some the bumper away on the inside. Its not visually noticable where its been cut but its stopped the catching.195s should help. The falkens stretch really well.
richgti97 0
yeh mate thats exactly were it rubs.. yeh was wondering if could poss cut bit from rear ov the bumper without it beeing visable. was thingin 20mm spacers instead of 25mm but thn the wheels wouldnt sitt inline with arch wich is were i want it. seems a weird place to rub lol
richievr 1
mine rubbed on the front edge of the rear bumper too, right where it meets the wheel arch.. if you are careful you can chop some off the inside of the bumper without it being visible from the outside...
