Can anyone tell me the correct engine temp for a VR6 ? Mine for some reason runs at or below 70 deg C It only gets to 90 degC when I'm in traffic. The fan also comes on at 90 ?? I've checked the wiring and the had the clocks out and checked the resistance of the sensor and it all seems fine. Has it go the wrong stat fitted I did here that fitting a 70 deg stat cools the engine better?

Also if experts say that cooling the inlet air is the way forward ie cooler combustion air high O2 content why have VR6's got heated inlet manifolds ?? Is it better to take by-pass the inlet manifold with a bit of 15mm coppertube?

Previous posts have warned against having a low temp thermostat in as the engine can't get to the correct operating temp and map, thereby using more fuel than need be...... suggestions, fit the 80c thermostat. Mine runs at 90c when warm, mind you, it never goes over that either, even in traffic................
