Blake 0
Hey! Just been reading some of your posts regarding induction kits etc.I was under the belief that to get any real performance benifits you need to do a combination of things to your car i.e. cams, air flow, exhaust etc.I re-routed my air flow - on my now old car (306xsi) and noticed not too much difference in the car, perhaps a small increase in power higher in the revs and a bit more of a growl.Perhaps this is the difference between pugs and VW's - can anyone shed some light on this for me/Cheers
VR6Pete 1,455
buy a BMC! they are well worth it... from just a BMC and a powerflow my late 97 VR is running at 201BHP
Blake 0
Hi, thanks for that - but for the layman i.e me! can you tell me what a BMC and powerflow are and what their functions are and what sort of improvements one can expect in performance or BHP.What was your cars BHP prior to fitting the BMC and powerflow?Cheers! VR6Pete 1,455
BMC CDA is an air filter in a carbon cone, check the guides section out for some pictures! and a powerflow is an exhaust. before them 2 mods my car was running at 178.9BHP according to a local rolling road. binliner 0
to be fair though Pete I bet your car without the mods wouldve got a lot more than 178.9bhp on that particular day at stealth.... what I mean is dont go expecting +22bhp from a filter & exhaust!Blake - you're right the only really noticeable change with an induction kit alone is the sound... but its worth it just for that VR noise!! VR6Pete 1,455
Thats true binliner, although the diamiter of my exhaust shrank a total of an inch as it got to my backbox on my old system
Blake 0
So vr6pete do you think you got most of your improvement from the new exhaust rather than the filter which only really creates an induction sound?Or have you had other modifications made to your car?Is the sound created by the filter due to the size of the engine? I.e smaller engine smaller sound? and visa versa?
