Toby 0
When I bought my car it came with fronts, mids and a 2 channel amp running them. The sub had been taken out. Do I now need to get another amp to be able to run any sub that I buy (which I need to do very soon!) or is it a case of just hooking up another sub to the setup I already have? I'm a bit useless on the old stereo/electical front so any help would be appreciated!
acf8181 0
well, you could run the current speakers off the headunit, and then bridge the amp to run the sub (presuming its powerful enough, and not too powerful, and also that its bridgeable).what amp is it?prob easier, and give a better sound if you use anoter amp for the sub.i have a sub and a couple of amps spare at the mo if you're interested in second hand, and i ain't too far from you. PM if interested.
Geastb 0
I'm currently running a 4ch amp for front speakers (only using front output) and a large 2ch amp (bridged) for the 2x12" subs - it seems to sork quite well.
Toby 0
it's a Viper 400.2 amp and as far as I'm aware there was another Viper amp running 2 12" JL audio subs. I prob would only want to go for one sub at the moment though
acf8181 0
yeah, two 12" JL's is a bit overkill...one 10w0 is more than adequate IMO.
Eat this 2
if u run the normal speakers off the head unit and put the sub on the amp it will sound terrible imo a decent amp is FAR better than a head unit if u get 1 sub u dont gain much by adding another tbh
Toby 0
great, thanks for the advice guys
