When I bought my car it came with fronts, mids and a 2 channel amp running them. The sub had been taken out. Do I now need to get another amp to be able to run any sub that I buy (which I need to do very soon!) or is it a case of just hooking up another sub to the setup I already have? I'm a bit useless on the old stereo/electical front so any help would be appreciated!

well, you could run the current speakers off the headunit, and then bridge the amp to run the sub (presuming its powerful enough, and not too powerful, and also that its bridgeable).

what amp is it?

prob easier, and give a better sound if you use anoter amp for the sub.

i have a sub and a couple of amps spare at the mo if you're interested in second hand, and i ain't too far from you. PM if interested.

if u run the normal speakers off the head unit and put the sub on the amp it will sound terrible imo a decent amp is FAR better than a head unit if u get 1 sub u dont gain much by adding another tbh

i diasgree that it will sound terrible with speakers running of h/u...it wont sound as good as if they're off an amp, but to say it sounds terrible is a bit of an exageration (presuming we're talkin about decent h/u and speakers of course).
