Ben Seabrook 4
all golfs are AAA mate - which engine do you currently have in an obd1 or 2 ?
cabrioman 6
if you only need to swap the head and block there is no difference the difference between obd 1 and 2 is the engine management and the idle control ie isv and intake manifold
oldmandon 1
Scuse me for being dull. Am I right in thinking the aaa engine is a vr6 obd1? If so what is the obd2 known as?
garrett281083 0
so if i bought an obd2 engine it would be an easy job for mechanic to do. would i get a noticeable amount of power.and is it worth it.ifigure as the engine is only 260 if i get more power its gotta be worth it.gettin chains replaced is double that easy. Rikki 2
OBD stands for on board diagnostics. All golfs regardless of obd are 100% interchangable. an engine out of a later car will give you NO extra power
garrett281083 0
cheers rikki your help is appreciated. whats the best way to tell if my chains need doing. my m8 said rev it to 1500 and listen for rattles. i can hear the chain moving but it dnt sound like rattling.im also getting bad idle problems when dipping my clutch at junctions. recently had a decat, im thinkin the lambda cud be damaged. what do you think does it sound right. cheers. Rikki 2
Try cleaning out the throttle body and isv....that could be the revs dropping!
