robvr6 0
do they really have too much time on their hands, last week in a moment of madness agreed to sell the mk2 gti for £800, apart from the usual rusty rear lights there isn't a mark on it,it's got 280 brakes, gti p/plate, leather, borbet c alloys,117k all mots ect, i sent him loads of pics so he would have a good idea of what the car was like, anyway he said he was coming to see it, he was in coventry i'm in the north east! he turned up in the dark it was pissing down and was freezing, literaly, they poked round the car trying to find fault, asked what i was prepared to sell the car for, wasn't prepared to drop much as i can break it for the same...they took it up the road about 2 miles and then left to decide saying they would let me know... nothing, not a phone call, text,pm.just trying to work out why someone would travel 400 miles(return) to see a car that i had described as presisely as i could even down to a tiny dent in the bonnet you can't even see unless it's pointed out!anyway after this we are quite glad not to have to sell it because we are just too attached to it! would rather not drive it and leave it on the drive, we were only selling because we don't need it,just trying to work out what was going on...anyone? i still think they thought it was going to be crap and they were going to get it for nowt...[ Edited ]
antera309 3
There are always questions you forget to ask before viewing a car.I remember one time travelling about 250 miles to buy a Golf Cabrio for my project, banker's draft in hand, after corresponding with the guy over email for over a month and seeing some very detailed pics.Got there and found out the car had no ABS, which was a requirement, but I had completely forgot to ask about it beforehand. Had to walk away, even though the rest of the car was exactly as described. Then again, with your guy, it might have just been a ploy to get the price down...[ Edited Sun Jan 23 2005, 03:54PM ]
robvr6 0
yeah i think so, i pm'd him(not on here,) he said there was to much surface rust...cheeky tw@t, the whole reason really for selling apart from not using it was that the rear panel was shagged, i think he had me on a technicality..i said rust instead of hole in an e-mail...but i have definately said in 1 that it had a hole... andy 0
I've sold 2 or 3 cars in the last year and am amazed how many timewasters are out there. People that come and view the car, test drive it, like it and agree to come back then you hear nothing. This has happened 5 or 6 times to me and I really don't understand it. What does a phone call cost?

robvr6 0
but to get someone to drive you 400 miles ! i sent him plenty of photos and explained it was knackered round the lights,he did ask at one point if i would take the lights off at one point but i just couldn't be arsed, and not to phone or tell me while they were there was just rude,as for trying to sell it, that's it now if we don't even drive it again i can't be arsed! badboyV6 4
some people are just after something for nothing - everyone wants value for money but some people take it too far.... I remember a couple of years back i was looking for a decent mk2 valver and seen this one on autotrader, it looked absolutely lovely in the picture and it had full oem leather (which was rare in a mk 2!!) He told me the car was immaculate etc etc, when i went to see it it was a shed, the interior was tatty, there was bits of trim missing etc, it drove sloppy. I drove 200 hundred miles to see it and was gutted when i got there, the guy was desperate for cash too as hed lost his job, so wasnt too happy when i didnt want it...he was guilt tripping me and all sorts- felt a right tw@t!....In your case though he actually had all the photos to back up what youve said. Besides wouldnt of taken much to get a bodyshop to sort the rust- its 800 quid for fooks sake!
robvr6 0
yeah, like i've said in my original post on another forum i was debating wether to break it or try to sell it, how much in parts ect, actually said the shell was rotten round the lights, he then trys to make out i've misled him by describing it as surface rust...never did i say surface rust.is there actually a rust scale like 1 is gentle bubbling to 10 is erm... hole!still really p1ssed off that he's making me out to be a liar, still glad he never bought it though,
