Recommended Posts

Right... Had a great day at the races.. on the way home chap in the rear pressed up window... up it went until we heard a crack then ... thats it the window stopped and then proceeded to fall down on the rest of the trip home... The actual mechanism works as I trapped his hand in it.... Oooops :o ... but the mechanism wont re-attach/connect to the window itself...

So is it dead what do I need to do to fix it??????

Please help...

Thanks

Are you sure its not just the little white clip that holds on to the wire cable which lifts and lowers!?!? mine used to drop slightly...got so p!ssd off with having to lift it every time i drove that i took the inside interior panel and found the guy before me had propped the wondow up with a piece of daydo or picture rail :s

I followed a guide in the members knowledge vault, cost £0 and 0p...tiny bit of rubber and a cable tie.

Might not be the same prob, but just a thought...good luck

I dont suppose anyone has a picture or the likes of these bits do they???

So I understand what I actually have before I take it appart and find I need something special..

I can see the motor attaches to a cable which then spins.. the cable is attached at the other end to the vertical lump of steel that has an artesian screw type device hidden behind it... thus converting the rotational motion to the vertical motion.. :D

Now what I dont understand is how the window attaches (assuming above is correct)..

The window motor works.. and you can feel the vertical rotating when you stick your hand in. The mechanism raises and lowers... as found by my mate when it trapped his hand and he cried...

I add to this by having the window wound down and then the window is trapped down and cannot be lifted by hand. I then wind the window all the way up and I can then raise the window by hand. Once raised I can use my special bit of wood to hold the window closed by wedging it in place.

So with all that said... what does the window sit on and how is it held and dragged down and pushed up??? I really dont want to take the whole thing out until I know what I need to do..

Replaced mine on Saturday. Passenger rear window.

Got a new replacement regulator (ebay £22 inc del) and fitted my existing window motor to it. Took about 1hr to replace inc door panel removal.

Was going to try the bullet fix but my problem was that the plastic blue connector had snapped off leaving one of the springs tensionors loose - should be compressed (so thats why the window would not go up).

Once you have removal the door panel (inc speaker & tweeter connectors, window switch). The window is held by rubber trim with 2 plates held by nuts. You may have to lower/ force up in order to line up the window to get access to these nuts. Had my 7 year old help me, with me saying push the (window) button on centre console up/ down/ up/ down/ up etc and me physically pusing the window up from the bottom.

Once the window is free from the plates either prop it up from the bottom or at the top, shove a bit of timber in the door to pevent the window dropping.

The regulator is held by 3 bolts, just loosen these and wiggle out the regulator free. The electrical connetor needs sliding out (cover slides off first - remember this when conneting back)

My ebay new window regulator came w/o the motor, so is was a just of comapring the two and removing screws etc and transfering the motor. Also came with the window plates and new rubber trim. Refitting is just a matter of reversal.

HTH
