bungy 2
I have seen and been watching a few threads where people are struggling to get welding done on their cars and as a result cars are getting stripped and broken for spares. This is a shame and really quite unnecessary. Enthusiasts from other marks rebuild cars from rotten wrecks which the Golfs don't tend to be. I can offer welding services for panels including manufacture for awkward area's at a cost that will be far less than most. Even better if the owner strips the area of trim before hand to help with access and preserves the area afterwards. Although all this can be done. I'm away until November but available after that and able to show evidence of previous work carried out. Drop me a reply or pm if you have something requiring doing. I'm not doing this for financial gain but have costs to cover and have to justify my time, just feel some may need help keeping their cars on the road.

legvw 0
Fair play to you mate, welding cars can be a pain, and as you are rightly saying, they are being stripped for no reason. If you've got the kit, workshop etc then why not? Good on ya fella! Long live the mk3 golf!! :-)
Phat VR6 3
there's nothing worse than lieing on a drive way with a car 5" away from your face. welding splatter going down your sleeves and making little fires in your hair lol, car bursting into flames inside the cab lol.. i fu**** hate it .. Ive got some awkward area's left that im really not interested in. id say your service is well worth it. might be in contact depending on distance. out of interest how are you protecting the inside of the repair i.e inside the sill.. stresses me out trying to protect the repair from inside
bungy 2
A welded repair has to be protected on both sides as you well know or else it'll just come back twice as bad. All depends on the owners wishes really and always better if they supply or even do the preservation after the weld.I'll be doing any work in a heated workshop and with the method I use never get splatters or burns.Always worth injecting sills with wax. gavinvr6 0
wish thisa was an option before i started on the mk2, could of got you to straighten up the mk3. never mind ay.any chance of a bracket to fit the mk3 column into the mk2?also the mk3 pedal box mod if possible. i re-fitted the mk2 one as had opotunity for a cable kit but that went tit's up and figured prob cost less to pay you to fab up the required bracket to fit the mk3 pedals instead. rado one is getting bloody hard to find. gavinvr6 0
basically the moun t on the mk3 column is lower than the mk2 mounting point by about 6-8" so need a bracket/box section of come kind to be fabbed up.the mk3 pedal box needs modding to fit the mk2, im sure we spoke about when you and paul done such a wonderfull job pulling the engine out for me.i will take a pic of the steering column conundrum in the morn and upload it, and one=ce i get the pedal out (awkward bolt to get at) i'll take a pick of mk2 and mk3 together to show difference. basically need mk3 one turning into a rado one
ashmk3 0
will you be able to fit new sills? as in replace the entire sill, as the previous owner jaked it up in the middle of the sill and now has a huge dent in it and rust is starting to settle in.

Would it not be easier to drill a series of holes and pull the crease out and weld fill the holes again? What's the availability of OEM sills for a mk3? Pattern ones are usually rubbish.
