ashmk3 0
When i passed my test i brought a white golf mk3 1.6 5 door for £125, no thats not a typo i really did pay that much haha, anyway it got me my first year driving then just before christmas the gearbox went bang i blew a whole the size of china in the bell housing and it leaked oil everywhere, and not knowing how to fix this i just scrapped the car. then i saved up a brought myself a metalic grey mk3 gti 8v yes i know probably the worst one of the mk3s but i needed a car and i knew the bolke at work and the history of the car so £1500 lighter i had a good run around anyway about a year or so later blue smoke started coming out the back got someone to look at it and piston rings had gone so i thought right engine conversion how hard can it be? i was going to go down the 1.8t route or even g60 route but my nextdoor neighbour had a rado vr and i never forget the power of that thing, he had it on the rollers at stealth approx 235hp so that was it my desison was made i wanted a vr6, so after searching the ebay for months while my gti got worse and worse i finally found a good engine for the right price a written off highline when i got there to pick it up the engine was still in the car so £400 i took the whole car bar interior.2 months later i had the gti out and the vr in. although i think i need to have the dash out and tidy up the wires as i think i have nipped a wire or something because i cant seem to get vagcom to work and i have had 3 mafs and none made a difference to the lumpyness low down in the revs and high reving on start up from cold.anyway here are some pictures from old to new enjoymy first white one:When i got it and gave it a clean:then i got the paint out and made it mine:a quick one of the engine bay:the spec is now as follows:mk3 vr6 highline engine and gearbox obd2hot tuning coilovers (from the 8v gti seem to be holding well)drilled and grooved brakesdtm back box k and n induction kit with cold air intakebbs rx2 with black centres and orange rimdeep chin splitter. stripped reari have retrimmed headlineing in suede along with door cards could be re done but i may be getting rid or break it down yet as there is alot of rust just appering

ashmk3 0
Yh it's what made me buy it. My next door neighbours corrado was this colour and I thought I have got to have it. It's just a case now of getting it running right and tidying it up and getting it to how I want it

kebster 0
Hi mate looks very nice Im after a set of coil overs and i have seen the hot tuning ones but not had any feed back on the quality and the ride/stance. Would you recommend them?
ashmk3 0
The hottuning coilovers feel firm and give a nice feel that I know I can throw it in corners and know I'll come out the other side, the backs are a tad stiff but I don't have any interior in the back. Saying that I am using coilovers for the gti and not a vr6 so the fronts will be softer due to them not being as strong but they seem to be holding up fine. As for stance well I'm running skinny rx2 wheel and with a deep splitter I can get the front of my trainers under just. And they have never bottomed out touch wood. hope that helps.
